NAME OF SUBCULTURE

1. Track and field: Throwers

• I always wanted to throw in high school but I felt a little out of place because everybody was so big; meaning that they had more muscle than I.
• I think throwers don't get enough credit for the hard work they go through to master their talent. And it's very interesting to watch their technique in all of their events.
• I would interview as many different individuals from every teams in the event and ask them question about how they prepare for events and why they choose throwing out of all events. And from an outsiders prespective I would ask them what interest them about the sport and what facts and information do they know about the sport.
• My only ethnical concern is probably what ethnical backgrounds enjoy the event the most and participates the most.
• If I can give back to the group I would support them by going to all of the games or I might take my interest into action and join the team next year.

2. Artist

• I like to look at pictures and last semester I learned alot about analyzing art and it made me get an interest for it.
• I think artists express themselves in manys ways. And their aren't afraid to do anything.
• I think would want to hangout with artists so I can get a real insight on their everyday activity. And I would want to know all of their opinions on social norms. And their out look on life. I would also ask outsiders what they think about artists and how do they feel about self expreesion.

• If I had to give back to this group I would donate to the art gallerys. And I would go visit museums and admire their work.

3. Telecommunications Majors

• I like the major because it deals wit alot asects with the media. And I like to read magazine and listen to music.
• I think that the student who are involved in the major are lucky because once they pursue their career they'll know everything that will be going on in the media.
• I would interview different students who are pursuing different job within the media and see what their biases are within the media. I would also ask outsiders what they think about the media nowadays and do they think the new generation will change it.
• I would want to know the percentage of each racial background that is involved in the media and which shows get the most ratings.
• If I had to give back to this group I would buy more magazines and watch more tv shows and do anything to support the different aspects of the media.

Newspaper Article Paragraph

When it comes to being student activists to suppost people with cancer; their more than likely to know someone who has it. There are many students on BSU campus that support cancer patients. "My aunt just died from cancer and my hair dresser had breast cancer twice." There are some students who don't volunteer that still feel strongly about supporting cancer patients. "People who don't volunteer or support cancer patients don't do it on purpose and sometimes it depends on how personal people feel about the cause." I feel if people had the time to join organizations like the BSU Relay for Life for Cancer Patients they would but instead they are crammed with homework and sports teams that take up all of their time. Cancer patients are supported dearly mentally and physcially.

BSU Relay for Life Committee

1. It talks about raising money for cancer patients and if the students around BSU campus get invloved in the relay, they will help raise money for cancer patients. Relay for Life wants people to become aware of how cancer is something thats affected everybody if not directly, then maybe they know someone with cancer or will meet someone in the future.
2. What is the purpose of the race?, How will the race help or/and affect cancer patients?, How often in the race held?, and How successful is the race?.
3. A fieldworker would get more in depth and detailed about the story. They would give interviews to cancer patients and ask them questions on how they think the race has better the care of cancer patients. And interview the committee to see their insight on the event and cancer patients. They want to know everything about the person and the subculture. A journalist would only write a story with who, what where, and why. They only give a basic story with out getting into too much detail.
4. The fieldworker would probably ask questions like what event is going on, who is sponsoring the event, where wil the event take place, who will be invloved in the event, why is the event being held, what is going to happen at the event, who is the event going to benefit, how long will the event take, and how successful is the event in the past years, what started the event.
5. The fieldworker will give interviews to insiders in the committee and the student who have participated in the race. They would give background information on the race like it's success in the past years. And they would show some videos of the race.
6. She would have to go to the place the race is held and the office that is in charge of the race and the committee. She can go on the internet to learn information about cancer and how the race has help the cancer patients.

REFLECTION

In House for the Homeless I liked the way she interview the different indivduals and got their story about their problems in life. But the one I like the most was when she talked to a girl named Hope. It seem as if she was really going through alot in her life. She had psychological problem that doctors couldn't diagnose. She dropped out of school and alot of things were just going so wrong in her life. But the author didn't belive her cause her stories weren't adding up. I felt like the author felt what the people were going through because she too was a immigrant and had to come to the USA with nothing. Another thing was the headline ,A Place to Hang Your Hat, made you think about having a home or a place to stay. She showed how some people from other countries come to the USA and they can't find jobs that they went to school for. I feel as if thats not fair!!!!

In Ralph's Sports Bar she talked about how there are different types of subcultures in one environment. And basically got into detail about the bar. she describe the signs and the rules that were hanging up nd how she didn't think he bar would have rules. She talked about the tables and the songs that were playing in the juke box. She seemed as if she was scared to interview the people in the bar because she didn't interview many people. She interview a lady named Alice that was the girlfriend of the owner of the bar. her and Alice worked together at a law firm. And she told her about all of the stereotypes in the bar and how they treated the women.
She showed the different situations that immigrants have to go through just to live in the so called Land of Opportunity and theres no opportunities for them but the really low income jobs that nobody else wants. How fair is that?!

In high school I belonged to many subcultures but the main two were cheerleading and being one of the honor students. It felt like I was living two different lives in school. In cheerleading I had to be peppy and smile all day even if I was mad because when you are a cheerleader you have to set an example for the student body. Everybody thought we were fun to hang around and pretty. Basically we were popular in the school. But being an honor student was very hard for me. Everybody expected so much from us. For example when we went to spell bowls n academic bowls they expected us to win all competions. We were labeled as the "smart kids". And since I was a cheerleader people knew me but as for the other kids they were labeled as "lames". I thought they were fun to be around. They were just like the rest of the people I hung around. If I had to choose between the two I would be a Cheerleader because most of the cheerleaders were my bestfriends and they still are to this day. I had fun at practice even though they were hard. I loved the drive and teamwork from the team. I also loved cheering. I never thought I would be a cheerleader because I was such a tomboy but I actually loved it. It taught me discipline and determination.
